Monday's winner:

Saint Augustine (3 votes)

Cicero (1 vote)

Augustine moves on to round two. We're losing voters faster than I can steal pears...

Featured commentary:
"Auggie all the way. He may feel bad about it afterwards, but it was worth the blood shed at the time. He's never really been that great at holding back anyway." - Heather

Today's match:

Moses, hero of the Hebrews

Durga, slayer of the buffalo-headed daemon

Second-last fight of round one. Who's got it to make it to the next round? That's up to you, so vote now.

Moses wins because if you've seen Prince of Egypt you'll know why.

Moses, just as the buffalo demon, has not a true womanly nature. Durga won't even need all her arms for this one.

Against my better judgement I'm voting for Moses. Durga's a tough cookie to beat, but Moses condemned his own people to 40 years of suffering, forcing the deaths of an entire generation (including himself) because a handful of his men showed fear in the face of conquering the Promised Land. Dude had balls, which is more than I can say for Durga.

hmm let's see... multiple armed warrior woman riding lion vs. guy who tried to weasel his way out of being YHWH's messenger, turned some staffs into snakes, and wrote down some stuff on stone tablets. Clearly, YHWH was the strong arm behind all the plague causing and whatnot. Since this isn't a Moses & YHWH tagteam fight, Durga's trident will easily triumph over Moses.

Ooh, tough one. I'm going to have to say Moses, because the whole Exodus thing was pretty darn cool. He's had some practice defeating tough competition: the Pharaoh was seen as divine, and we all know who won their little standoff. He also seems to have had a considerable amount of luck, which never hurts. Don't forget that Moses managed to escape when *God* wanted to kill him (always helps to have a quick-thinking wife). If he can weasel his way out of that, he can outwit and overawe Durga.

But only if he can get Aaron to make the annoucement of his victory. Cuz, you know, Moses hates public speaking.
